The band wasn’t kidding when it chose the title Heavy Hands. On Ladyfinger’s debut, darkness rules and thank freakin’ God. With their balls to the wall, the band has crafted a metal tour de force with a touch of post-punk, assaulting their native Omaha with raw anger and an unrepentant thrash. Teeming with elements of Motorhead, The Melvins and even At the Drive-In, the band is revisiting a multitude of hard-hitting styles oft- overlooked by the indie rock world, propelling songs with weighty chords, livid vocals and a harsh energy, intense and utterly relentless. Not for the weak of heart, it serves as a fine alternative to all those indie kids sick of the clumsy guitars and the self-aggrandizing introspection typical of most Saddle Creekers. Certainly a triumph on record, I can only pine away for the live show sure to rock my fucking socks off.
